The narrative tells about the abduction of Queen Guinevereand is the first text to feature the love affair between Lancelot and Guinevere. Although he includes a perfunctory love scene where a bloody-fingered Lancelot bends metal bars to hook up with an imprisoned Guinevere while Kay, gravely wounded by his usual combination of bravado and poor planning, sleeps unwittingly in the same room, there isn’t much of lacelot payoff to their relationship.

Lancelot asks the dwarf for news of Guinevere, and the dwarf refuses to give any information unless Lancelot rides in the cart. The focus in this story is all on Lancelot, Gauvain and Guinevere.

One day during dinner a strange Knight bursts into castle and announces he has prisoners of King Arthur ‘s land. Meanwhile, Gawain prepares to battle Meleagant, since Lancelot is missing a one-year rematch after the second duel was established.

Lancelot beats Meleagant, saving Guinevere and strengthening their love. The next morning they catch sight of Guinevere but they fail to catch them. I also have to add that the conclusion gives no answer about the Lancelot-Guinevere love story; I wish there was a sequel to let chrdtien know if Arthur discover them and what will be his reaction! I knew all about Lancelot and Guinevere’s affair going into troyrs story so that didn’t surprise me in the least, but I liked chreetien adventure Lancelot had to go on to find and save Guinevere.

While Gawain is looking for the pair, he runs into the then unnamed Lancelot who, after riding his horse to death, convinces Gawain to lend him a horse in pursuit of the queen.
